- Major jumps for the Tesla Model X, up six positions to #11, the Mini Countryman PHEV also up nine spots to #26 (There have been rumors of thousands-long waiting lists for the plu-in Mini, BMW might have another winner here), while the much-awaited Opel Ampera-e climbed na additional three positions to #28, while preparing for a full-on launch in the market.

As the Tesla Sports Sedan reaches historical high levels, the usual direct competitors are starting to be left behind, so it's time to look upwards and see who's next on the list of  the Model S ICE-killing.

Time to focus then on the BMW and Mercedes flagship vessels, the BMW 7-Series registered 602 units last month, so it is still some 150 units above the Californian, but if sales continue to grow, maybe a year from now even the Commanders-in-chief of BMW and Mercedes could be threatened by the all-electric sedan. In their own home...

At a time of record deliveries for the Model X, the Tesla Sports SUV is starting to tickle its most direct competitors, even if numbers are half of the Cayenne and F-Pace, it is enough to reach the tail of the BMW X6, one of the pioneers of the whole Sports SUV oxymoron.

  1. Jose,

Are there any reliable reports of Streetscooter van production/deployment?
Just read this story, indicating DHL makes its own electric vans, so they might not be captured under "sales", but surely the German system has some way of tracking them...

Or is it still all vaporware with no production yet?

    Thanks!

    1. The car is very much a reality, i just do not report comercial vans on regular posts.

Next week i will publish a couple of LCV (Van) posts, including Germany and you will see the StreetScooter. ;)

  2. It is great to see that Germany is finally waking up to EVs. Let's hope the Ampera-e and Mini Countryman PHEV can help solidify that trend. It is especially good to see that Tesla is finally starting to make some inroads. Keep it up guys!
